Museo di Arte Sacra di Rotella

E-mail Print

The first news of Rotella came from before the year 1000. A place rich in history holds a very particular collection. There are numerous precious reliquaries that make up this collection including that of San Fortunato, work of Pietro Paolo de Aurificis (1509), native artist of Valle Castellana but active in Ascoli along with the famous goldsmith Pietro Vannini. Numerous other reliquaries of different types were donated to the local Community by Mons. Ariodante Ciccolini, prelate who lived for a long period of time in Rome and who stayed for over 400 hours in the beautiful church of Saint Vivienne. In the museum there is also a little statue of the XVII depicting Saint Peter the Apostle.
